Top 10 best places to visit in Canada

What can I say about Canada? Well it’s big. Meaning, that it’s quite the endeavour to travel all of it, because it’s the equivalent to traveling to all the countries in Europe. Canada is my home country, and like most Canadians, we are though that Canada is boring and that it’s not worth seeing. My dream was to teach Canadians and really all countries that Canada is worth travelling to. We think that a trip to tropical islands, is better than exploring our country to the north. Hopefully after this blog, you’ll think twice about what Canada has to offer.

 

#10 Hopewell Cape, New Brunswick

Hopewell is a small and quiet village in the Albert County. In fact, it’s so small that exact population figures are not maintained. Hopewell Cape is the site of the Hopewell Rocks, a world-famous geological formation accessible on Shepody Bay. These epic cliffs look like something straight out of a fantasy movie. Walk along the ocean floor and experience the beauty of these natural rock formations.

As for the high and low tides of this surreal location. In short, the ocean tides change so rapidly that you can walk on the ground and see it swallowed by the sea, in the same day! I’m told that tides are controlled by the combined gravitational pull of the sun and moon. Because it is larger, the sun’s gravitational force is 180 times stronger than the moon’s. And at this strange location, sea levels rise, between 32 and 46 feet, daily.

Ottawa is a once in a lifetime experience that you must put on your bucket list. The high-rise buildings, hitting the light as the sun goes down, and the fresh Ottawa air that makes you feel good. If you’re planning on taking a trip that’s not too far from home, Ottawa is a perfect choice. With a series of indoor and outdoor activities to choose from, Ottawa has something from everyone.

People come from around the world to experience the Rideau Canal Skateway’s 7.8 kilometres (4.8 miles), which stretch from Ottawa’s downtown core near the National Arts Centre to spacious Dows Lake. The Byward Market is known as the most iconic market in Canada, and is also a must!

#8 Quebec, Quebec

Québec is cozy and very welcoming. Québec City is the capital city of the Canadian province of Québec, with a cliff-top position above the the Saint Lawrence River; in Canada’s mostly French-speaking province. Dating to 1608, it has a fortified colonial core with stone buildings and narrow streets. About half the buildings in the Historic District of Old Québec were built before 1850, which is impressive. Some even date back to the era of New France. Keeping in mind that this city is the only fortified city in north America. Québec City has seen many battles and sieges from the British. To defend against such attacks, a wall along with cannons were built around Québec City in 1690. If you’re looking for a city to visit with really rich history, then look no further.

#7 Kensington, Prince Edward Island

Kensington is a small town with indescribable beaches. PEI is known for its red sandy beaches, but this one takes the cake. Anyone who lives or has spent time on P.E.I knows there’s one called thunder cove beach, that beats all the others. It was a hidden gem not too long ago, but people are starting to notice. The beach is only a short drive from the famous Cavendish Beach and is an excellent spot to escape the crowds. Here you can often have the entire beach to yourself!

#6 Mont-Tremblant Resort, Quebec

Ever wanted to know how it feels to be in a small European village while still being in Canada? The Mont Tremblant Resort, in Quebec, comes close and is located only 130 km northwest of Montreal. A perfect place to get away for a weekend, Tremblant is built for tourism and keeps its visitors amazed with beautiful views. This year-round resort is best known for its ski destination during the winter, but don’t be fooled, the summer activities are just as incredible and abundant.

The Village is a great place to spend the day. It looks like a colourful town you would find somewhere in Europe. Does it ever get warm? Newfoundland is the newest of Canada’s 10 provinces, having joined the confederation only in 1949; its name was officially changed to Newfoundland & Labrador in 2001. The Gros Morne National Park is the center of all rich scenery, wildlife, and recreational activities. It took nature 485,000,000 years to mold Gros Morne National Park into the geological and visual wonder we know today. The second largest National Park in eastern Canada, Gros Morne National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Gros Morne Mountains provide a rare example of the process of continental drift, and with a series of melting ice creates cascading waterfalls.

They’re all in the Vancouver area, because each nature-filled destination has plenty of amazing sites and outdoor activities for the entire family. All Vancouver hiking trails are a must-try. #1 Jasper National Park, Alberta

Wait! Japer and not Banff? Yes. For those of you who don’t know, Jasper is a National Park in Alberta, just north of Banff. It is located in the Canadian Rockies within the Athabasca River Valley. And the reason why I adore Jasper much more than Banff is that there are so much more things to see. To me, Banff felt like more of a tourist trap. Banff has the one attraction of Lake Louise that is very popular, but Japer has tons of things to see. In the end, you’ll get much more out of travelling to Jasper.

Jasper offers countless waterfalls, canyons, mountains, lakes, glaciers, and hot springs. Enough to keep you very occupied for the duration of your vacation.
