Texas State Capitol

The capital and seat of government of the American state of Texas is the Texas State Capitol. The Texas Legislature’s chambers and offices are housed in this downtown Austin, Texas, building, which is also home to the governor’s office. Architect Elijah E. Myers designed it in 1881, and civil engineer Reuben Lindsay Walker oversaw construction from 1882 to 1888. In 1993, a $75 million subterranean addition was finished.
