Up until 1888, all of the state’s government was housed in the North Carolina State Capitol, which served as the legislature’s previous location. In 1888, the Supreme Court and State Library relocated to a new location, and in 1963, the General Assembly took up residence at the State Legislative Building. The governor’s offices are currently located on the Capitol’s first floor, together with those of his immediate staff.
