In 1845, Amable LeBlanc, a Métis, and his wife Marie-Louise Cimon went to reside on an island in the midst of a lake 121 km northwest of Oka. He took eight families with him to this location, where hunting and fishing were excellent. After its discovery, this lake was named “Lake Cimon,” which later became “Lake Simon.”
