Alabama State Capitol

The state capitol of Alabama is called the Alabama State Capitol, and it is recognized as the First Confederate Capitol on the National Register of Historic Places. Situated in Montgomery on Capitol Hill, once known as Goat Hill, it was designated as a National Historic Landmark on December 19, 1960. The Alabama State House serves as the venue for legislative sessions for the state legislature, in contrast to every other state capitol.
