Clinton Square

Clinton Square is a crossroads located in Syracuse, New York’s downtown area. The square, where roads from the north and south converged, was the original town centre and was created in the early 19th century. The crossroads underwent additional changes in 1825 with the opening of the Erie Canal. The area served as a marketplace and venue for many public gatherings during the 19th century. One such gathering, in 1870, was said to have drawn 20,000 attendees.
