Dundurn Castle

Hamilton, Ontario, Canada’s Dundurn Castle is a historic neoclassical palace located on York Boulevard. The construction of the 18,000 square foot home took three years and $175,000, and it was finished in 1835. Gas lighting and running water were the newest amenities in the forty-room castle. The City of Hamilton currently owns it; they paid $50,000 for it in 1899 or 1900. The land has been renovated by the city to the tune of around $3 million in order to make it public.
