Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History

Halifax, Nova Scotia’s downtown is home to the Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History, a division of the Nova Scotia Museum. The museum features items that are important to Nova Scotian culture in addition to collections and displays related to the natural sciences. The oldest gopher tortoise known to science, Gus, has spent the majority of his life at the museum after being acquired by Donald Crowdis, a former curator. On August 11, 2019, the museum commemorated Gus’s 97th birthday.
