The official history museum of the state of North Dakota is the North Dakota Heritage Centre & State Museum, which is situated in Bismarck on the grounds of the state capitol. The State Historical Society of North Dakota runs the first facility, which opened in 1981 and houses both temporary and permanent exhibits.
