Palenque Ruins

Palenque, sometimes called Yucatec Maya, or Lakamhaʁ (“Big Water or Big Waters”) in the Itza Language, was a Maya city state in southern Mexico that vanished in the eighth century. The Palenque ruins span the period from roughly 226 BC to 799 AD. It was eventually repaired after being excavated and overrun by a mahogany, sapodilla, and cedar forest after it declined.
