Sauble Beach

In the northern region of southern Ontario, Canada, Sauble Beach is a beach village and unincorporated territory in the town of South Bruce Peninsula, Bruce County. On the northern border of the Saugeen First Nation, it is located on the Bruce Peninsula, along Lake Huron’s eastern side. The term “La Rivière Au Sable” initially applied to the sandy Sauble River by early French explorers, suggesting that the river’s mouth was a sandy beach where it empties into Lake Huron. Prior to 1881, the river was referred to on maps by its French name before being renamed the Sauble River. A sawmill and a hydroelectric plant were first constructed on the river in its early years.
